Police bust two men for burglary, attempt

— Two men are in custody at the Rock County Jail in connection with a burglary and an attempted burglary.

-- Frankie K. Bauman, 53, of 942 Garfield Ave., Janesville, was arrested at 6 p.m. Monday at the jail on a charge of being party to the crime of burglary and party to the crime of theft.


-- Glenn A. Johnson, of 1342 Dewey Ave., Beloit, was arrested at the same time and place on charges of burglary and theft.


The two men have been in custody since they were arrested by town of Beloit police on April 3, according to sheriff's office records.


Police stopped Bauman and Johnson because their vehicle fit the description of one involved in an attempted burglary that day to a home on Gustafsen Road in Turtle Township.


While the two were incarcerated, detectives connected them to a burglary that took place at 11 a.m. March 10 to a home on North Avon Townline Road in Spring Valley Township.


A safe was stolen that contained $10,000 in silver bullion, according to sheriff's office records.


In addition to Monday's charges, Bauman is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.


In addition to Monday's charges, Johnson is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and possession of a firearm by a felon.
