WCLO's Steve Benton reports on how two local food pantries are doing in this economy

RSS

— The lines are longer at both ECHO in Janesville and Caritas in Beloit, while the amount of food donated to the food pantries is keeping up with the demand. That's the good news according to Marge Sell of ECHO and Yolanda Peer of Caritas.

Clients are telling Sell and Peer more adult children are moving back home because of job losses, and records show blended families are becoming common.

Food drives, like the one recently conducted by letter carriers, and additional donations from businesses, churches, and individuals, are increasing to keep up with the need.

Sell and Peer say there are a lot of caring people in both Janesville and Beloit.
