Members of the Janesville City Council are touring facilities Wednesday morning to become better acquainted with different aspects of the city.

City manager Eric Levitt says the tour will show some development projects, but there aren't a lot of those projects since development has slowed in Janesville. Levitt says the tour serves as an orientation for newly-elected Frank Perrotto, but other council members will participate. The group will inspect aging city facilities like Fire Station #1 on Milton Avenue, Rockport Pool and the transit maintenance building to better understand the need for new buildings.

I remember my 3rd grade field trip of Janesville hot spots back in 1969. Some of the things we saw were Blackhawk cave, Francis Willard school, the first stone foundation house, and first lime stone quarry.
