Beloit Snappers edged out in high scoring contest

MIDLAND, MICH. — The Great Lakes Loons took advantage of a catcher interference call to end a high-scoring Midwest League baseball marathon Thursday night.

Anthony Hatch reached base on the interfence and scored the winniung run on Matt Wallisch’s single as the Loons edged the Beloit Snappers, 11-10, in 12 innings.

Beloit rallied from an 8-6 deficit to take a 10-8 lead with four runs in the top of the ninth, but Great Lakes forced extra innings with two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Angel Morales went 4-for-5 to lead Beloit’s 18-hit attack. Nathan Hanson had three hits for the Snappers, and teammate Drew Thompson had three RBIs.
