Janesville Jets ready to set roster
The Janesville Jets, the newest member of the NAHL Junior A league, will finalize their debut season roster this weekend as the team holds its final open tryout at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
Two earlier tryouts in Duluth, Minn., and Janesville attracted players from around the United States and Canada, and now a select group will be given a final shot at making the Jets’ roster for 2009-10.
The final tryout camp, which is open to the public, begins today 12:15 p.m. with team practices and continues through Sunday. The 100 players invited to the camp will be divided into six teams and will play competitive games beginning at 9 a.m. Friday and continuing through Saturday night.
Sixty players will be cut Saturday night and the top 40 will compete in an All-Star Game at 10 a.m. Sunday. The two 20-man teams will complete in a game scrimmage, which is also open to the public. The Jets’ coaching staff will announce the final roster at approximately 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Janesville Youth Hockey will utilize the Jets final camp as a fundraiser event, selling food at the rink on both Friday and Saturday.

I wish that either the Jets or the Gazette would have included the actual number of players and their families that came to Janesville and stayed here. Talk about a win win situation....great hockey and boost to our local economy.
