— The state has revoked the medical license of Dr. Bruce E. Greenfield of Beloit.

The state Medical Examining Board at its July 15 meeting revoked Greenfield's license to practice medicine and surgery, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the state Department of Regulation and Licensing.

Greenfield was in general practice at 403 Wisconsin Ave., Beloit.

According to the news release:

An administrative law judge recommended the revocation after hearing the complaint against Greenfield, and the board unanimously agreed.

The judge found Greenfield violated a previous disciplinary order that suspended his license for 18 months and prohibited him from prescribing, dispensing, administering or ordering certain medications.

The earlier discipline was ordered because Greenfield inappropriately prescribed and dispensed medication to a patient with whom he was having an inappropriate sexual relationship.

In addition to finding that Greenfield wrote prescriptions and received drugs while prohibited from doing so, the board also found Greenfield failed to keep an inventory of medications in his office, a violation of federal law governing controlled substances.

Greenfield was ordered to pay the costs of the disciplinary proceedings against him.
