WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on low number of Rock county traffic fatalities

RSS

Rock County Sheriff's officials are pleased with the low number of traffic fatalities so far this year.

Captain Gary Groelle says only six traffic fatalities have been reported, which is less than half the average rate. Groelle would like to think grant funded saturation patrols are part of the reason. He also believes the increased public awareness brought about the by the patrols helps. Unfortunately, the grant money will be running out soon. The five year annual average for traffic fatalies in Rock County is 26.

Rock County hasn't had a traffic fatality reported since April 18th.
