Legion squad swept by Impact

JANESVILLE — After two days of rain delays, the Janesville American Legion’s quest for a state tournament berth was erased with 15-4 and 11-4 losses to the Madison Impact in Legion District Regional baseball Saturday at Riverside Park.

In the first game, the Impact rolled to a 12-0 lead before Janesville scored four runs in the seventh inning. Madison pounded out 13 hits to Janesville’s nine.

Janesville starter Brett Fredricks allowed eight runs—six earned—on six hits to take the loss.

In the second game, Madison had 13 hits to Janesville’s six. Janesville’s Matt Beyer had two hits in four at-bats and drove in two runs.

Janesville starter Cody Steed allowed four runs on six hits in 1-3 of an inning to take the loss.

Janesville finishes the season 18-17 overall.
