Babe Ruth 13s defeated

SAUK CITY — The Janesville 13-year-old Babe Ruth team’s state tournament road ended late Friday night with a 11-6 loss against Appleton.

Janesville couldn’t overcome a devastating loss Thursday night against D.C. Everest when the local team gave up six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to fall 13-12.

Janesville came back to beat Mount Horeb, 10-9, behind the strong relief pitching of Darin Brewster and Troy Malmanger. Nate Hoag went 2-for-4 and scored three runs and Will Theisen drove in two runs.

Appleton then eliminated the local team.
