Beloit Snappers dig long ball

BELOIT — Angel Morales hit a grand slam, and Daniel Rams hit a two-run homer and RBI double to lead Beloit to an 8-7 victory over visiting Cedar Rapids in Midwest League play Thursday.

Morales’ slam gave the Snappers a 4-0 lead in the fifth.

Rams added a two-run homer in the sixth to put the Snappers up, 6-2.

Ramon Santana had a one-out single, and Rams tied the game at 7-7 with an RBI double in the eighth.

Drew Thompson was inserted into the game as a pinch runner. With two out, Jon Waltenbury singled to center to score Thompson with the go-ahead run.

Billy Bullock was credited with the victory, while Matthew Williams earned his eighth save of the season.

The two teams conclude their three-game series with a 7 o’clock game tonight.
