— Virchow Krause & Co., the 17th-largest CPA and consulting firm in the United States, has changed its name to Baker Tilly as part of an agreement to become the exclusive U.S.-branded firm in the Baker Tilly International network.

Baker Tilly is the largest independent North American member firm in Baker Tilly International, the eighth-largest accounting and business advisory network in the world.

Jeff Kersten, Janesville market leader, said Virchow Krause is not merging or being acquired, and there will be no change in the firm's leadership. The firm has been an independent member of the Baker Tilly International network since 1999 and will maintain that status. The firm will operate under the legal name of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP.

With staff totaling more than 1,300, Baker Tilly provides a wide range of accounting, tax, assurance and consulting services. The firm has offices in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York and Wisconsin, including Janesville.

Kersten said the name change would have no impact on any of the firm's existing office locations.
