Local taxpayers might save money, and academic performance could improve, under a countywide school district system.
Janesville School Board member Lori Stottler tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show Florida has enjoyed some success with this model. She says per pupil costs are about $1000 less than in Rock County school districts, and some measures of academic achievement are higher. She says Janesville's school board president has already begun to talk to other local school district leaders to explore cost sharing measures.
She does admit other states attempting this model have experienced pain during the transition.
