Wanted: Alderperson for Edgerton's third district
EDGERTON On Monday, the Edgerton City Council decided to put an ad in the paper seeking applicants for the third district seat recently vacated by Carrie Strahota.
Strahota is moving out of the district.
The letters will be due by Wednesday, July 29, so they can be put in the council's agenda packet for review at the Aug. 3 meeting, said City Administrator Ramona Flanigan.
Strahota was originally appointed to the seat in April 2008 to replace Alderman Paul Davis, who also moved out of the district.
She was elected in April 2009, defeating Andrew Wellnitz by four votes even though Wellnitz pulled out of the race.

Here's the quote:
"Edgerton Mayor Erik Thompson spent much of his youth in Edgerton. He participated in the culture of drinking in high school and beyond until he gave up alcohol this year, he said."

The lack of interest in city government under the current administration is interesting.
TOBACCO DAYS (not Heritage Days) proved to be a great event this year as well. The yellow "Pride In Tobacco" shirts were a great site to see.
Anyone else see our mayor drinking beer after beer Sunday at the park. This is the same mayor that stated in this paper a few months ago that he wasn't going to drink anymore. That was after a bar downtown was featured in a story about underage drinking. What a hypocrite.
