A 49-year-old man is in custody after a nearly four-hour standoff with Janesville Police Sunday.

Ronald Gapski, no fixed address, was wanted through the the Dixon, Ill. Police Department on a warrant for Sexual Assault to a Child. Police say he armed himself with a butcher knife when officers located him in the 2300 block of Janesville's Center Avenue and refused to surrender. Gapski was on the roof of the residence armed with the knife and refused repeated attempts to take him into custody. The SWAT team became involved and Gapski succumbed to a tear gas exposure.

He was taken into custody unharmed.
