Beloit teen critically injured in early-morning shooting

A 17-year-old girl is in surgery Saturday after an early-morning shooting in Beloit.

Beloit Police Captain Bill Tyler says the shooting occurred at about 1:25 Saturday morning. Police, fire, and paramedic units responded to the 911 call, and found the 17-year-old in the area of Porter Avenue and Switch Track Alley.

Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where she remained in emergency surgery Saturday morning.

Police investigators and evidence technicians are evaluating the scene and interviewing witnesses.
