Tippett throws Beloit Snappers past Bees

BURLINGTON — Pitcher Brad Tippett tossed seven shoutout innings and the Beloit Snappers used a pair of three-run innings to score a 9-1 Midwest League victory over Burlington on Thursday night.

Tippett (8-3) lowered his ERA to 2.63. The Australian-born pitcher struck out three and allowed just four hits.

Tippett got ample offensive support. Shortstop James Beresford was 4-for-5 and six Snappers had at least one RBI.

Aaron Hicks had an RBI double and Ramon Santana had second-inning RBI singles to give the Snappers all the runs they would need. Beloit added three runs in the fourth on five hits.

Beloit’s Daniel Rams hit a solo home run in the fifth to make it 6-0. The Snappers blew it open with three runs in the seventh.

The two teams will play the second game of their three-game series tonight.
