Janesville East, West to meet

The Janesville East Junior American Legion team is 2-0 in the U-17 regional tournament.

Cody Steed and Tom Yaucher limited Beloit to two hits Thursday night in the East’s 9-2 win at Riverside Park.

Janesville East will play Janesville West in a winner’s bracket game at 7:30 tonight at the Youth Sports Complex in Beloit.

Tyler Bloom and Austin Geller had two of East’s eight hits against Beloit. Janesville East jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings.

n Janesville West 8, Kenosha 7—Josh Garcia delivered a two-run, seventh-inning double, lifting Janesville West (16-7) to a regional victory.

Taran Kobs had a two-run single to tie the game in the sixth, and Janesville got a run on a balk to take a 6-5 lead. Kenosha got two runs in the bottom of the sixth, setting up Garcia’s heroics. Jake Welch gave Janesville the early lead with a two-run single in the first inning.

Trent Kobs pitched a complete game for Janesville, fanning 12 and walking six.
