Janesville Legion drops semifinal, wins consolation title

BELOIT — Beloit blanked the Janesville American Legion baseball team 3-0 in an Lakes Area Legion League tournament semifinal Tuesday.

Janesville bounced back to defeat Richmond, 7-2, for the consolation title. Beloit defeated Burlington, 2-1, for the tournament title.

Starting Beloit pitcher Drew Larson limited Janesville to four hits and worked out of several jams in going the distance to post the victory.

Beloit scored all three runs after two outs in the sixth inning.

“It was a tough inning, a

really tough inning,” Legion coach Ron Pohlman said.

Janesville left seven runners, including a pair in the first, sixth and seventh innings.

Janesville starter Tyler Teubert took loss, allowing three runs on six hits. He walked four and notched three strikeouts.

Against Richmond, Janesville led 4-0 after four innings and rolled to the victory.

Jake Kobs went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs to pace Janesville.

Janesville (16-13) will return to play Beloit this Thursday.
