Beliot Snappers fall short

— The Beloit Snappers could not keep the lid on the Peoria Chiefs in the late innings and lost 7-2 in Midwest League baseball here Monday.

The Snappers held a 1-0 lead and tied it 2-2 in the top of the sixth, but the Chiefs rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-2 lead and sealed the deal with three more runs in the eighth inning.


Peoria reliver Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-0) allowed one run on four hits, but blanked Beloit through the final three innings to gain his the victory in his first appearance in a Chiefs’ uniform.


Beloit was held to six hits with Michael Harrington going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Josh Harrison had four hits in five at-bats and drove in three runs to lead Peoria’s 12-hit attack.


Snappers’ reliver Thomas Wright (0-1) allowed five runs on five hits through three innings to take the loss.
