Fort topples Whitewater
Tom Dehnert played the hero’s role for Fort Atkinson in Home Talent baseball Saturday.
Dehnert belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Fort Atkinson (10-1 East) to a 5-4 win over Whitewater (2-9) in an East Division clash.
Tim Brokl had three singles and scored twice to top Fort Atkinson’s 11-hit attack.
Rory Kolo’s three doubles and four RBIs for Whitewater.
-- Utica 9, Evansville 4—Utica (6-5) built an early 9-0 lead and cruised to the win. Brad Knickmeier’s three-run double with two outs in the third highlighted a six-run inning for Utica (6-5)
-- Albion 4, Orfordville 1—Albion (8-3) got 12 strikeouts from Mike Nanstad on Saturday. Nanstad struck out 12 and did not walk a batter in earning the complete-game victory. Jim Eastman ripped a two-run single with two outs in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.
-- Cambridge 11, Deerfield 5—Toby Probst and Adrian Flores drove in two runs each to lead the 11-hit attack for Cambridge (7-4).
