Police have arrested five people in connection with a string of armed robberies in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, including five incidents in Walworth County.

Officials said Michael Boyle, 42, of Twin Lakes; Sean Kettledon, 25, of Paddock Lake; Terrance C. Walker Jr., 22, of Elgin, Ill.; and Randy O'Brien, 20, of Iron City, Mich., were arrested over the weekend on charges of armed robbery. A 16-year-old boy from Silver Lake also was arrested on armed robbery charges.

The suspects face charges in Illinois and could face charges in Wisconsin, officials said.

Police credit an anonymous CrimeStoppers tip with cracking the two-month, two-state robbery spree, which ended Thursday with a handful of arrests in northern Illinois.

The suspects held up a number of hotels, gas stations and stores in the area, including five businesses in Walworth County:

-- Comfort Suites in Lake Geneva on April 30.

-- Shell in Lyons Township on May 17.

-- Domino's in Delavan on June 12.

-- Citgo in Williams Bay on June 13.

-- Mobil in Elkhorn on June 19.

Several law enforcement agencies from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin met in early May to compare notes on the robberies.

All of the robberies were conducted in a similar manner, leading police to believe they were connected. The robbers would enter a business, point a handgun at the store clerk and demand money. The robbers wore hooded sweatshirts and bandanas covering their faces.

No one was injured in any of the robberies.
