WCLO's Steve Benton reports the Beloit Community Clinic will soon have a new "walk-in" clinic.

— A Beloit community clinic will expand, thanks to a federal grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Chief Financial Officer for Community Health Systems, Sharon Rand, says the $657,000 will go toward a new walk-in clinic, equipment upgrades, and additional staff.

Currently the clinic takes appointments only. The new walk-in clinic will be open extended hours and on the weekends. The equipment upgrades include new computers and software.

Construction is expected to start soon and is scheduled to be finished by Sept. 1.

Community Health Systems operates four clinics in Beloit, Janesville, Darlington, and Racine. They serve residents with no insurance or limited insurance.
