UW-Whitewater men roll at Eau Claire

— UW-Whitewater picked up its game and rolled past UW-Eau Claire, 79-60, in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball here Saturday.

After struggling to get past UW-La Crosse, 64-61, on Wednesday, the No. 6-ranked Warhawks (17-3, 9-2) hit the floor running against the Blugolds, blitzing to a 23-9 first-half lead on the heels of an 11-0 run.

Eau Claire (11-8, 5-6) got within 44-36 in the second half, but Whitewater went on an 8-0 run to go up 52-36 with 14 minutes to play, and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Myles McKay scored 18 points, and teammate Matt Goodwin added 15 to lead Whitewater. Kori Vernon added a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Whitewater hosts UW-Stout at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
