Bluebirds win; Fury falls
The wins continue to pile up for the Janesville Bluebirds.
Janesville’s high school co-op team shut out Madison West, 8-0 on Saturday night, in a Big Eight Conference game at the Ice Skating Center. The win is the third straight for the Bluebirds (11-3, 6-1) and the fourth win in the last five games.
“We played five games in eight days and won four of them,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “We’re trying to do things the right way, and that means moving the puck and finding the open man.
“Tonight, we stayed out of the box and played very unselfishly.”
Janesville scored four goals in both the first and second period and dominated the young Regents. Joe Allen and Ross Mauermann scored two goals each, while Sly Flynn had three assists.
The Bluebirds will host Verona on Monday night at 8 p.m. in a battle for first place in the Big Eight. Verona defeated Janesville in the season’s conference opener.
