General Motors in Janesville plays a role in Governor Doyle's State of the State address.

Four GM workers, Lenette Holden, Jim Koeberl, Todd Brien, and Leo Carillo are named by the governor. He says they are workers our economy needs and the abilities of workers like those at GM can't be squandered while waiting for the economy to get better. Assembly Speaker, and former UAW leader, Mike Sheridan says there's no better representation of the challenges the state is facing than the circumstances surrounding General Motors. Despite a rather gloomy speech by the governor, many local legislators are remaining upbeat about the potential for recovery.

They say everything is on the table when considering ways to cut the state budget deficit, bolster economic growth, and maintain core services.
