Brodhead High scored a major victory Tuesday night in Rock Valley girls basketball.
The Cardinals not only kept the heat on first-place Orfordville Paview in the South Division, but they knocked Jefferson out of the North’s top spot with 53-36 triumph over the visiting Eagles.
Brodhead (11-3) boosted its conference record to 9-1 and stayed a half-game behind Parkview (10-1). Jefferson (8-4) dropped to 8-2 in league play and fell a half-game behind McFarland (9-2).
The Cardinals took control early against Jefferson. They led 13-6 after the first quarter and 29-13 at halftime.
Kristen Ruchti scored 11 of her 19 points for Brodhead in the first half. Dana Lewis contributed 15 points to victory, while Caylee Cottrell led Jefferson with 15. Jessica Splittgerber, the conference’s third-highest scorer with 14.4 average for the Eagles, was held to four points.

n Parkview 60, East Troy 45—The Vikings cruised past the visiting Trojans to maintain their half-game lead in the Rock Valley South.
Parkview (13-2, 10-1) led 36-18 halftime, but East Troy (2-12, 2-8) rallied for a 20-9 third-quarter advantage to pull within 45-38. Parkview gained a 15-7 advantage in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Jenna Larsen scored 17 points for Parkview, while Becca Neal had 11 and Melissa Harnack added 10. Caitlin Dolan led East Troy with 18, followed by Lindsey Fleury with 11.

n Clinton 51, Edgerton 36—The host Cougars (7-6, 5-5) blitzed Edgerton, 13-2, in the first quarter and went on to even their Rock Valley record.
Maggie Schultz scored six of her 13 points for Clinton in the first quarter. The Cougars’ Liz Althoff led all scorers with a 21-point game.
Meggie Schmidt led Edgerton (6-9, 5-6) with 12 points.

Jordyn Courier scored 14 points for Big Foot (7-5, 6-4), while teammates Courtney Spangler and Sarah Thune scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman Molly Griep scored 17 points for Whitewater (4-10, 4-6).

n Evansville 56, Turner 50—Hailey McIntyre scored eight of her 19 points in the fourth quarter to help Evansville (2-11, 2-8) fend off host Beloit Turner (0-12, 0-10).
Each team scored 21 points in the final quarter as the Blue Devils made 10 of 19 free throws win the Rock Valley crossover game.
Turner’s Megan Grover sparked her team’s comeback attempt as she scored 10 points on five field goals and finished with 18 points. Zoe Hale added 11 points for Turner.
