Armed robbery at a Janesville bar
JANESVILLE A robber wearing a ski mask and carrying a long-barreled gun made off with cash from a Janesville restaurant Tuesday night, police reported.
Officers were called to White Oak Restaurant, 429 N. Parker Drive, at 11:40 p.m. They were told the robbery pointed the gun at the bartender, gave the bartender a yellow plastic bag with black lettering and told the bartender put money into it, said Sgt. Craig Klementz, patrol supervisor.
The robber fled on foot, and police followed footprints to Avon Street, where they found vehicle tracks.
"The assumption is he got into a vehicle," Klementz said.
The robber is described as a black man, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, stocky build, wearing a teal-colored jacket and gray-hooded sweatshirt.
The bartender and one patron were not hurt, Klementz said.
Anyone with information about the robbery can call Janesville police at (608) 755-3100 or Janesville Area CrimeStoppers at (608) 756-3636.
