The next gubernatorial race may include a well known Republican formerly from Janesville.

Republican Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Mark Jefferson tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show, former First Congressional Representative Mark Neumann may consider running. Jefferson says Neumann is popular beyond the First District, judging from his narrow defeat in the U.S. Senate race against Russ Feingold. Neumann represented the First District from 1995-1999.

Jefferson says Neumann will likely make his decision later this summer.

Last I heard he started some consulting business, but I'm not sure where in WI he is now. I'm pretty sure he sold his stake in the Neumann homes enterprise years ago.
.
If he runs, it would likely be a close primary race between him and Milwaukee Co executive; Scott Walker. Who ever comes out of it on the Republican side will be sitting very good in 2010, as unemployment will be in the double digits, and the economy will be in the worse shape since the carter years. Most all your incumbents will be in serious trouble.
