Beloit economic news
BELOIT As the economy continues to adjust to world conditions, Beloit City Manager, Larry Arft, says local projects could be affected.
He says he's keeping an eye on the list of capital improvement projects and will adjust it according to their budget.
Arft says Beloit continues to see good economic news on the food industry front, including from the Hormel plant, Kerry Ingredients, and Frito Lay.
He says as Kerry moves into their new world headquarters building, they're leaving some downtown buildings vacant. One of them is being purchased by the city as part of the agreement to keep Kerry in Beloit. Arft says they want to lease it, since the building will be razed within the next 30 years. It's been targeted by the D-N-R as not in compliance with rules on buildings on navigable waterways.
