Douglas shoots East Troy past Whitewater

Dan Douglas can shoot, and he proved it in lifting East Troy High School to a 72-67 victory over a determined Whitewater in a Rock Valley North boys basketball battle Friday night.

Douglas sank five three-three point goals in the fourth quarter to shake the Trojans free from the Whippets.

East Troy remained undefeated in the North at 6-0 and 6-3 overall. Whitewater fells to 5-3 and 7-5.

Whitewater carried a 50-47 lead into the fourth quarter, but East Troy gained a 24-17 advantage to seal the victory.

Mitch Windle scored a game-high 29 points for East Troy. Douglas finished with 24, and Scott Beckwith added 11.

Tony Bilderbeck scored 18 points for Whitewater, while teammate Miles Hookstead added 12.

n Jefferson 61, McFarland 49—The Eagles (5-5) steadily pulled away from McFarland (6-4, 4-3) to even their Rock Valley North record at 4-4.

Trevor Propst scored 18 of his game-high 31 points in the first half to lead Jefferson to a 27-23 advantage. Jefferson led the rest of the way.

Lucas Schmitz scored 22 points for McFarland, making 10 of 16 free throws. Bryan Poredos added 10 points for Jefferson.

n Brodhead 70, Palmyra-Eagle 38—The Cardinals ran their winning streak to seven with the convincing Rock Valley South win.

Sophomore center J.J. Panoske scored 23 points to lead Brodhead (8-4, 5-3), which remained in first place and moved two games ahead of Clinton. Ryan Miller added 17 for the Cardinals and Jake Cole chipped in 13.

Kevin McGiver had 17 points to pace the Panthers (2-9, 0-7).

n Big Foot 67, Clinton 32—The Chiefs held the Cougars to two points in the first quarter en route to the Rock Valley South win.

Alec McGreevy led Big Foot (2-5, 1-5) with 14 points, and Marcus Greven added 12.

Austen DeLong had 15 points to pace Clinton (3-7, 3-5), which trailed 31-13 at halftime.

n Turner 60, Parkview 53 (OT)—Aaron Jones made six of seven free throws in overtime to lift the Trojans to a Rock Valley South victory.

Jordan Conway’s layup sent Turner into the overtime. Turner gained a 12-5 advantage in the OT seal the victory.

Jones finished with 22 points, while Conway finished with 12 points. Nick Melton scored 22 points for Parkview and Jamie Wischer added 15.
