Janesville police arrest Dane County robbery suspect
JANESVILLE A Janesville man accused of violating his bond after a Sept. 30 robbery in Dane County was arrested Thursday morning after Janesville police reported finding him hiding in the trunk of his girlfriend’s car.
Police arrested Cortez Tucker, 19, of 1116 W. Wall St., Janesville, at Bond Place and Crosby Avenue. Police had followed his girlfriend’s blue-green Oldsmobile from 3007 Westwood Ave., Janesville, while responding to an anonymous tip.
Tucker is one of six people accused in a failed robbery and a shooting Sept. 30 at Highwood Club House, 80 Forrest Ave., Albion, near the west shore of Lake Koshkonong.
Detectives think the six planned to rob two victims of drug money, according to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. Tucker fired six shots into the victims’ sport utility vehicle as it drove off, according to the release.
Tucker was arrested later that day and is charged with robbery, recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon, according to online court records.
Tucker pleaded not guilty on Oct. 14 and was released from Dane County Jail on a signature bond. He is accused of violating the conditions of his bond, however, and a warrant for his arrest was issued Dec. 3, according to court records.
Tucker is in custody at the Rock County Jail pending his return to Dane County.
His girlfriend, Geneva T. Walker, 19, of 520 S. Franklin St., lower apartment, Janesville, was arrested on a charge of harboring or aiding a felon.

This whole thing is so disturbing on so many levels.
1. He was released on a signature bond after recieving charges of burglary, endangering safety, and a weapons charge.
2. They get a tip that he is at this address a block from Parker High School, yet this story says nothing about steps they took to protect the safety of the students that were flocking out of the school after their exams, at the exact same time the police were doing their surveillance.
I was parked at the corner of waveland and westwood at 11 am, waiting for my child after her exams. One of the Janesville squad cars was parked right across from me, and I didn't think nothing of it, just figured they were there, because there have been complaints before about students in this particular area.
Perhaps in the beginning, the police didn't know students would be exiting at this time, but as more and more cars came and parked there, they must have had an idea students were being released at this time. As the students were coming down the walkway, the squad car had pulled out, and after getting my daughter,I was just a few cars behind it. Less than a block later, another squad car was coming off a side street, and I made a comment to my daughter about all the squad cars in the area. As we were approaching the corner of Bond and Crosby, one of the squads turned on their lights and proceeded around all the cars congesting that intersection. As we came around the corner, we saw the girlfriends car pulled over, and still at this time, just figured it was a speeder, nothing more.
After having lunch at McDonalds, we went back up crosby, and at this time, there were at least 4 squads, and they had the guy face first in the slush, in cuffs.
It wasn't until later we heard the news report over the radio, that we finally figured out what we had been witnessing.
So my question is this, they have a tip that this guy was hiding at this house a block from the school, kids would be pouring out soon, the guy is a fugitive with a weapons charge, and endangering safety, what if anything was done to ensure the safety of these students? How would the cops know he didn't have more weapons, and might feel the need to use them, so's not to be taken back into custody?

What is the world coming to when you can't trust a common criminal to adhere to his bond conditions? If only these guys gave you a sign that they couldn't be trusted...oh, wait, they're criminals, never mind.
