RSS

This year's Forward Janesville Annual Awards Banquet includes a pep talk about the economy.

Challenges brought on by the recent downturn in the economy were not lost during Thursday's luncheon. David Bagley, with RSM McGladrey remarked what a difference a year makes during welcoming statements. He talked about how who could have foreseen the severity of the current recession. Bagley used the opportunity to help inspire the 300 or so of his fellow business leaders in attendance at the Pontiac Convention Center. Bagley reassured the gathering, Janesville would rebound. He also says what is done over the next five years will define the community for the next 50.

Among those being honored. Rotary Gardens for Community Improvement. The Aktion Club for diversity. Jackie Wood as Woman of Excellence. Goodwill Ambassador Jim McMullen. Volunteer of the Year Nick Fitzgerald. Small Business Person of the Year Todd Duckworth. Office Pro as Small Business of the Year. Rock Road Companies for Large Business. And the late Ken Hendricks for Lifetime Achievement.

Shows you how small time those awards are. It was a luncheon and not even an awards dinner. Hendricks is the only impressive one on that list.

Congratulations, Jackie, Jim, Nick, Jamin and the rest of the Winners! You are an asset to Janesville and more than deserve this award! Thank you.
