WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on local interest in Presidential Inauguration

RSS

The Presidential Inauguration captures the imagination of local residents.

Few may appreciate the sight, of more than one-million people, on the National Mall in Washington, more than Sam Leibert of Janesville. The Obama campaign staffer, and now administration member, tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show, it was amazing to witness in person. Leibert thinks back to when he started two years ago, and could hardly get a hundred people to show up and listen to a guy named Barack Obama. Leibert wasn't alone in Washington. Harriet Knight Everette of Beloit was also there to see an inspiration for African Americans like her son. She says she's seen a transformation in her son behind Obama. On the Beloit College campus, senior William Brasington of Marshfield joined hundreds of other students in Pearson's Hall to watch the historical moment. He says it was great to be in a room so filled with energy and optimism. With a unique, international perspective, Beloit College Senior Antonia Brevovan from Croatia called his inaugural address amazing.

She says Obama is very popular in Europe, and believes with his leadership American can regain respect in the world.
