WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on school children's view of inauguration

RSS

Janesville school children could be learning life long lessons from Tuesday's inauguration.

Students at Lincoln Elementary will be paying close attention. Principal John Walczak says televisions in the classrooms will play out the dramatic event. Walczak says pre-k through fifth grade have been learning a lot about politics in recent weeks. More than ever before, students need to understand the world at large. Barack Obama's inauguration is significant for other reasons, including showing all students, anything is possible.

Above all, Walczak believes the historic event is fostering a renewed interest in civics.

Thanks to the Principal and Staff at Jackson.
What a fantastic way to share history in the making with your student body. Perhaps more was learned than we can anticipate. I'm impressed and thanks for the efforts. As a citizen of Janesville I know many others who did appreciate this learning tactic.
