— Janesville citizens have a chance to weigh in Monday on the Walgreens proposed for the corner of West Court and Arch streets.

Manager of Building and Development Services Gale Price says the new development says a lot about a community when the city can promote new development in a particular area. He says there is new housing stock on the west side that needs to be served.

The plan commission holds a public hearing on the building's conditional use permit at 6:30 Monday night.

The city has open dialogue with Walgreens about the five points store. He says the city is concerned about the long-term service to the Fourth Ward neighborhood. He wants to provide for the needs of the residents in the Fourth Ward, whether it is Walgreens or a different store in the future. Walgreens has given no indication it will close the five points location.
