The Rock County Sheriff's Office is considering a change to its command staff.
Sheriff Robert Spoden says the Lieutenant's positions may be reclassified as Captains. The reason is, Lieutenants have been taking on roles beyond typical shift commander functions, particularly during special events. He says Captains are non-union, and therefore would not be as confined by hours and duties.
The county board will make the final decision.
