— An Illinois man was arrested Friday night on suspicion of causing injury by drunken driving after a two-vehicle crash in Janesville Township.

Anthony Brogan, 32, of Lombard, Ill., is accused of driving north on County E at 11:19 p.m. Friday, when he failed to stop at Highway 14, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

Brogan’s vehicle struck a pickup truck driven by Daniel Winter, 39, of Evansville. The truck was westbound on Highway 14, according to the release.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to the release.

Brogan and his passenger, Jeff Swierk, 32, of Lombard, Ill., were not wearing their seat belts, and they were ejected from the vehicle, according to the release.

Brogan remains in stable condition at Mercy Hospital.

Swierk was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital, but a hospital spokeswoman declined to release information about his condition. The sheriff’s office reported he was in critical condition.

Winter sustained minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

Highway 14 was closed for 90 minutes following the crash, according to the release.
