Craig takes third in gymnastics invitational
MADISON Becky Schneider and Lauren Moran helped lead Janesville Craig High School to a third-place finish in the Gold Division of the United Gymnastics Invitational on Saturday at Madison East.
The Cougars finished with 127.825, while Middleton won the four-team division with 135.05.
“Considering what a mixed up week this was as far as not being able to practice much, I thought we had a pretty strong effort today,” Craig coach Jean Welch said.
“We’re getting to the point of the season now where we’re trying to add harder stuff to our routines, and so there are bound to be a couple of misteps or falls.”
Schneider finished sixth on the uneven bars, and tied Moran for sixth on floor exercise.
Craig returns to Big Eight Conference dual competition on Thursday at Verona.
