WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the Milton School District accepting the "Energy Star Challenge."

RSS

— The Milton School District is answering the call to be more energy efficient by accepting Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton's "Energy Star Challenge."

Milton Superintendent, Berny Nikolay, says reduced energy costs will allow the district to spend more money on the education of children.

He says they're not competing against other districts, but working with them to accomplish their goals.

Nikolay says the first thing to do is hire and consultant to conduct an evaluation of the district, and then move forward on the conservation efforts.

The challenge was first proposed in April of 2008. Other districts in the area participating include Evansville, Fort Atkinson and Stoughton.
