District approves seven retirements
JANESVILLE The annual announcements of teachers retiring from the Janesville School District has begun.
Here’s a list of retirements, all effective June 12, that the Janesville School Board approved Tuesday:
-- Craig Bellknap, psychologist, 34 years in the district.
-- Kay Berkley, first-grade teacher at Washington School, 35 years in the district.
-- Barbara Harrison, kindergarten teacher at Washington School, 32.5 years in the district.
-- Barbara Knickerbocker, learning-support teacher at Monroe School, 29 years in the district.
-- Sam Loizzo, social studies teacher at Craig High School, 32 years in the district.
-- Andrea Matthusen, sixth-grade teacher at Marshall Middle School, 24.5 years in the district.
-- Bill O’Leary, special-education teacher at Craig High School, 35 years in the district.
The district reports that 22.4 percent of the membership of the teachers union are now eligible for retirement or will be eligible in the next five years, while 43.8 percent of administrative employees will be eligible.
The board also approved a resignation, effective Jan. 9, of Katie Timmons, a special-education teacher at Wilson School, after 23 years with the district.
