Brodhead High School’s boys basketball team is on a roll that has carried the Cardinals to the top of the Rock Valley South.

Coach Brian Kammerer’s team grabbed the lead Monday night by downing preseason favorite Orfordville Parkview, 56-42, in a makeup game at Brodhead.

With their fifth straight win, the Cardinals climbed 3-3 in the conference and 6-4 overall. The Vikings fell to 2-3 and 4-5.

Brodhead held the Vikings to single digits in the first and second quarters for a 33-16 halftime lead.

J.J. Panoske and Ryan Miller scored 14 points apiece for Brodhead, and teammate Jake Cole added 12. Alex Mumm led Parkview 14 and was the lone Viking in double figures.

n McFarland 62, Whitewater 54—The Spartans made 18 free throws in the fourth quarter to send the Whippets down to defeat in a Rock Valley North makeup game.

McFarland gained an 18-12 advatage in the final period to pull away from a two-point edge.

Whitewater (6-4, 4-2) led 36-28 at the half, but McFarland (5-3, 3-2) gained a 16-6 advatage in the third quarter for a 44-42 lead. The Spartans went 18-for-22 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

McFarland made 24 of 30 free throws overall, while Whitewater made 3 of 4.

Tony Bilderbeck scored a game-high 22 points for Whitewater, and teammate Miles Hookstead added 17.

Lucas Schmitz led McFarland with 21 points. Aaron Dixon had 14, and Keenan Deer added 11.

n East Troy 84, Big Foot 63—Dan Douglas led the way with 20 points, including six three-point goals, as East Troy (5-3) rolled over the Chiefs and tied idle Evansville for the Rock Valley North lead at 5-0.

Michael Spadoni had a game-high 21 points for Big Foot (3-4, 1-4). T.J. Schaid scored 10 for the Chiefs, while Cody Condon and Brett Bouwman backed up Douglas with 16 and 10, respectively, for the Trojans.
