Head-on crash fatal to one of the drivers

JANESVILLE — The Janesville police department says one person died in a two vehicle accident on Center Avenue shortly before six o'clock Monday morning.

Lt. Tom Wolfram says the name of the 25 year old female who died is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

He says a witness told them the victim's car was southbound and crossed over the centerline, striking the other vehicle head-on. The other driver is 20 year old Rachel Rivers of Janesville. No information is available her condition.

Wolfram says the road was snowy and slushy, and may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Police say traffic was rerouted around the accident scene for nearly two hours.
