Vikings' Craker, Arndt wins Elkhorn title

ELKHORN — Alex Craker and David Arndt won individual titles Saturday to lead Janesville Parker High School’s wrestling team to a fifth-place finish at the Elkhorn Invitational.

Burlington won the eight-team tournament with 238.5 points, while the host Elks were second with 196.5. Clinton was third with 157, followed by Parker with 140 and Brodhead with 133.

Craker, a senior, improved to 16-4 by winning the 285-pound title. Craker had pins in all three of his matches, including a third-period pin in the title bout against Brookfield Central’s Richie Smeltzer.

Arndt improved his season record to 21-4 by winning the 160-pound bracket. The senior decisioned Tyler Heck of Burlington, 9-5, in the title bout.

Elkhorn’s Ryan Slack remained unbeaten by winning the 125-pound title. The sophomore, who is 19-0, defeated Parker’s Brennan Casey-Schmidt, 12-3, in the championship match.

Clinton had three champions. Daniel Banh and Brandon Wixom won back-to-back titles at 112 and 119, respectively, while Brad Hesebeck (22-0) remained unbeaten by winning the 130-pound title.

Brodhead’s Devon Seitz improved to 11-4 by winning the 140-pound title.
