Lakeside wins battle of Capitol's best
It didn’t count in the standings for either team, but Lakeside Lutheran High School impressively won a battle of the Capitol Conference’s best in boys basketball Thursday night.
Justin Eternick and Nate Bauer combined for 51 poins as the Warriors (7-1) knocked off previously unbeaten New Glarus, 92-70, in a crossover nonconference shootout at Lake Mills.
Lakeside led by double digits most of the second half before New Glarus (8-1), No. 6 in the AP Division 3 state ratings, cut the margin to seven. The Warriors responded with a 12-0 run to win going away.
Eternick led Lakeside with 26 and Bauer added 25.
Logan Lockard had 16 points to pace New Glarus, and Jake Bast added 15.
