Beloit firefighters are looking for the cause of a blaze in a 12-unit apartment building on Cleora Drive.
Delivery driver Eric Hultgren was the first to call 911 a little after noon Friday. Hultgren says he saw black smoke coming from the area of the apartment building and tracked down the address for emergency dispatchers. He also saw a young woman standing in the freezing cold, holding a small child, in front of the building.
Firefighters spent hours battling the blaze. When they first arrived, they entered for a search and rescue, then began to extinguish the fire, but were forced outside, because of the threat of collapse.
