Walgreens plans fifth Janesville location
Podcast Episode
With four current locations in Janesville, and new plans to build a fifth store, Walgreens could close its Five Points intersection location once it opens a west side store.
Gale Price, manager of building and development services for the city, says Walgreens has not explicitly told the city it's closing the Five Points location, but he is under the impression they could close that store with the opening of the new location at the corner of Arch and West Court Streets. He says the close proximity of the two stores leads city staff members to believe the closure of the Five Points store is a possibility.
He says the lease could be broken at the existing store, the property owner could redevelop it and re-market the location.
While Price says the city does not get involved in market dynamics, he says Walgreens could be opening its fifth location in Janesville because the stores serve individual neighborhoods. The new location is scheduled to open next fall.

Just beautiful another vacant building in Janesville coming soon....... What the heck could even move into the old Walgreens store in that location especially? May as well just tear it down sell the lot to the city and they can make it A park (and never mow it)!
