Lake Geneva Badger dialed long distance again Thursday night and made a major connection in Southern Lakes boys basketball.
Badger High collected 11 three-point baskets, including six by Austin Gaugert, for a 53-40 victory that left visiting Delavan-Darien with its first conference loss and gave the Badgers their first Southern Lakes win.
The Badgers (3-5, 1-2) had a 20-10 lead after the first quarter and were in control the rest of the way.
Gaugert finished with 23 points to lead all scorers, while teammate Braden Tice added 13.
Jarrett Fowlkes had 11 points to pace the Comets (5-2, 1-1), who had a five-game winning streak snapped.

n Elkhorn 50, Westosha 35—Elkhorn made a big first half stand up for a victory that lifted the Elks to 3-0 in the Southern Lakes and 8-0 overall.
The visiting Elks, No. 10 in the AP Division 1 state ratings, built a 32-16 lead in the first half as they dropped Westosha Central to 0-3 in the conference and 0-8 overall.
Eric Bryson scored seven of his team-high 14 points in the opening quarter as Elkhorn surged to a 20-8 lead. Jake Gahart got nine of his 13 points in the second quarter to complete Elkhorn’s first-half surge.
Matt Feivor led Westosha with 10 points.
