The Beloit School District gets more state aid

WCLO's Steve Benton reports more state aid helps lower the tax levy for the Beloit School District.
BELOIT The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance is out with a report on property tax changes for 2008/09. The Beloit School District is mentioned as handing local taxpayers the biggest cut in the state.
Administrator of Business Services for the Beloit School District, Cathy Mark, says a change in the state school aid formula resulted in an additional $4 million for Beloit. That results in a levy reduction of 13.9%, the biggest in the state.
Tax payers could receive another cut in taxes in a couple of years when the district pays off debt from a high school renovation. But Mark says the School Board could decide to make additional investments in buildings or maintenance instead.
