Orfordville Parkview High School had a tough time against a determined Walworth Big Foot team but pulled through with a 39-34 victory Monday night to remain undefeated in Rock Valley South girls basketball.
In a game rescheduled from December, the Vikings (9-1, 6-0) took a 14-8 first-quarter lead, but the Chiefs (3-4, 3-3) stayed close the rest of the way.
Parkview clung to a two-point lead with 90 seconds remaining, but Big Foot’s effort to take the lead faded after failing to score on five straight possessions.
Sabrina Suiter sank Parkview’s lone three-point basket with just over two minutes remaining to give the Vikings a five-point lead.
Neither team had a player score in double figures.

n McFarland 45, Whitewater 41—The second-place Spartans survived the Whippets’ fourth-quarter rally to post a Rock Valley North victory at McFarland.
Whitewater (2-8, 2-4) fought back from a 36-26 third-quarter deficit to tie it, 38-38, but Annie Culver sank a three-point goal to give McFarland the lead for good. McFarland (7-2, 5-1) made 6 of 11 free throws down the stretch.
Kelsey Harms scored 16 points, including three three-point baskets in the first quarter, for Whitewater. Kaitlynn Eversoll scored 10 of her game-high 19 points in the second quarter to help give McFarland to a 27-18 halftime lead.

n Edgerton 34, Fort Atkinson 33—Meggie Schmidt’s three-point basket at the buzzer gave the Crimson Tide a thrilling nonconference victory over the visiting Blackhawks.
Fort’s Ralissa Nelson knocked away Schmidt’s first attempt, but Schmidt recovered the ball with 1.4 seconds remaining and tossed in the winning basket.
Schmidt finished with 13 points to lead Edgerton (3-6). Nelson scored 17 to pace Fort Atkinson (2-7).

Despite their inability to connect on numerous shots from close range, the Cougars (3-4) rambled to a 39-7 halftime lead. That included a 25-1 second quarter, during which Liz Althoff scored 10 of her 18 points for Clinton.
