BELOIT TOWNSHIP A woman charged with stabbing her boyfriend is free after posting a $5,000 cash bond.
Tanya Y. Greer, 28, 1938 Harrison Ave., Beloit, was charged Wednesday in Rock County Court with first-degree reckless injury.
Her boyfriend James A. Holzbauer, 29, was in fair condition this morning at University Hospital in Madison.
Town of Beloit police responded to Greer's home at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday and found Holzbauer at the end of the driveway in large pool of blood. Greer was at his side, putting pressure on the wound to stop it from bleeding, according to the criminal complaint.
A short time later, officers found a bloody knife in the kitchen and a puddle of blood about a foot in diameter in the living room near the entrance to the kitchen, according to the criminal complaint.
Greer told police she hit Holzbauer with her hand. At one point, it looked like Holzbauer was going to grab something and hit her, so she grabbed the knife and struck him, according to the complaint.
"I know I f----- up. That's why I called you guys right away," Greer told police, according to the complaint.
Police also interviewed Greer's 8-year-son who told police he saw his mother punching Holzbauer and that he was "bleeding real bad."
